The SUPERAGENT Insurtech Roundup: Flood zones gets downgraded, but...

Allergic to jargon. Tailored for the modern insurance world we’re helping reshape.

This week: AI gets a performance review, your flood zone gets downgraded, and pet insurance still can’t fetch consumer trust.

Forget the corporate gloss. This is your no-fluff briefing on building insurtech (in real time), and the insurance/insurtech stories that matter (plus the ones you'll bring up at happy hour).

Headline Mayhem

  •  🌧️ Flooded once? You might foreclose twice.
Flood zones aren’t just a premium problem - they’re a loan default risk. A new MarketWatch report shows homes hit by flooding have a higher chance of foreclosure. Insurers, meet your new underwriting partners: mortgage lenders.
  • 🌊 Hurricanes are reshaping real estate.
Insurers are retreating from coastal zones, and so are buyers. Business Insider reports that insurance premiums are pushing down home values in flood-prone areas. Add this to the list of climate effects hitting the balance sheet.

  • Life insurance is having a moment.
According to LIMRA, individual life premiums rose 8% in Q1. Pacific Life just passed Northwestern Mutual to become the top seller. Indexed UL is booming… buyers want both protection and upside.

Building in Public: Sweat, Stress, and Systems That Work

We’re not here to ship a demo… we’re here to build a co-pilot that can actually sell.

The last few weeks have been some of the most intense since we started SUPERAGENT. Our vision is bold, an AI co-pilot turns every insurance agent into a Super Agent. So we are really working on the autonomous, real-time, personalized guidance SUPERAGENT provides.

But before we can achieve autonomy, we need reliability at scale. And that’s where we’re laser-focused at the moment.

Here’s a peek behind the curtain:

  • 📞 500+ calls -real, AI-vs-AI, and mixed- to test how SUPERAGENT handles objections, curveball customer behavior, latency, and edge-case failures.

  • 🧠 Objection handling is finally turning the corner. Instead of relying on rigid scripts, SUPERAGENT now reasons contextually in real time, and we’re finally seeing real wins from this shift.

  • ✍️ Our transcription engine got a major overhaul. It’s now faster, more accurate, and can cleanly separate agent vs. customer voices. This will be critical for feedback loops and coaching.

  • 📊 We launched full-stack call tracing and latency monitoring, from speech-to-text through LLM to coaching output, giving us deep visibility into every millisecond of the call.

At the moment, we’re chasing truth over perfection: where the product holds up, where it breaks, and how to make it stronger. This is the phase where a lot of systems crack, and we’re getting stronger.

Things That Make You Go What?

  • 🐾 Pet insurance is booming. Trust in it? Not so much.
Vet bills are breaking hearts and bank accounts, yet 80% of pet owners would rather roll the dice than file another claim that ends in heartbreak and fine print. Carrier Management says it’s a UX mess. Translation? Until someone makes pet coverage idiot-proof and instant, we’ll keep pretending peanut butter is healthcare.

  • 🖥️ Legacy tech: like running a Formula 1 race in a fax machine.
Still using systems that crash when you open a PDF? You’re not alone… but you are bleeding money. Insurance News Net reports that creaky infrastructure is now the #1 drag on growth. Good news: your competitors probably haven’t fixed it either.

  • 📃 Regulation is on a Red Bull bender.
Compliance just cracked Aon’s global top 3 risks, for the first time ever. From AI laws to climate disclosures to ESG reporting fatigue, execs are sweating the speed and scope of change. Aon calls it “regulatory velocity.” We call it a great time to hug your GC.

Until then, remember: the future isn’t agentless. It’s agent-augmented.
